A bit of a recap and a bit of a rant - The Lovesick Expo

View from above at the 2013 Lovesick Expo in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This past Saturday I had the opportunity to go to the Lovesick Wedding Expo in Brooklyn with a friend of mine who is getting married this fall. I have never been to a "typical wedding expo" but I am told that Lovesick is anything but typical...which makes sense considering it was held in a concert venue and included burlesque performances. A second expo also took place on Sunday in Philadelphia, and a third will take place in Boston this Saturday, January 20th.

I am a really big fan of the Lovesick Expo and the guys behind it, Tom and Jon of Lovesick, Inc.  They understand most couples want a wedding that is unique and personalized, and have gone above and beyond to help make this possible by organizing these "eco-friendly", "nontraditional", "same-sex-couple-friendly" events.

I was lucky enough to work with Tom and Jon because they DJ'd and filmed my wedding this past May. Their belief that a wedding should be a reflection of the people getting married is also applied to their DJ-ing and videographing, which is why everyone who has worked with them or been to one of their weddings has nothing but incredible things to say about them.

On top of all that, they have been super supportive and helped give me the confidence to take my passion for creating wedding decorations seriously. As a result, I've started this blog, I'm creating an Etsy store and spend a lot of my free time crafting, and I'm partnering with some folks in the industry on some small projects. I know I'm not the only person out there they have encouraged to get into the wedding business, and between their support of little start-ups like me, and their Lovesick Expo efforts, they've done a lot to advance the wedding industry in the tri-state area and beyond.

Anyways, they have just announced the date for an additional expo this summer in Asbury Park, NJ and will be announcing a date for another in Wilmington, DE! Fingers crossed you will see me there, as one of the vendors. I'll be the one with lots of garlands.
